Velcorin is a product manufactured by the business unit Material Protection Products. It is a microbial control agent that stabilizes the beverage during the production process. It prevents the growth of microbes such as yeasts, moulds and bacteria in the beverage from the moment they are produced to their consumption, while retaining its freshness, color and taste. After addition to the beverage, it quickly breaks down into natural components and is not present in the beverage when the drink is consumed by the customer. The product can for example be used in juice based drinks, soft drinks, ice teas, flavored waters or energy drinks.

Velcorin’s unique advantage lies in the fact that that beverage makers can use the ‘cold fill’ process and minimize costs by using thinner PET bottles or other packaging options. Additionally, usage of Velcorin also helps in saving energy by eliminating the hot fill process which is energy intensive. By replacing the hotfill process, the beverage manufacturer also has a bigger flexibility in creating modern shaped bottles and needs not to use the typical thick hotfill PET bottles.
